Christmas tag

Hi there, today I would like to show my Christmas tag using homemade mask.

patterned paper - BasicGrey
tag, stamp - Tim Holtz
ink - Ranger, Tsukineko
washi tape - Kamoi, Kurashiki Isho
lace trim - Prima Marketing
other - vintage book page

And let me show you how to make it.

First you will need to make your own mask with paper - just print numbers on a piece of paper (the font I used is "FFF Tusj") and cut them out.

Then apply the small amount of stick-type glue, and LET DRY (it’s important!). Now you’ve got your own paper masks, with sticky back.

Place the masks and ink tag using ink blending tool.

Stamp over the masks.

Remove the masks and you will see the un-inked numbers.

Now all you have to do is embellish the tag - I added torn paper strips, washi tape, and lace trim.

Enjoy :)

Wedding card

Here is a wedding card made for Crafting Ireland. I usually make 12x12 layouts, but I also like card making. Putting small things and elements in a limited space is difficult but so much fun for me.

Cardstock - Core'dinations
Patterned Paper - Pink Paislee, Sassafras Lass
Rub-on - My Mind's Eye
Washi tape - Kamoi
Ticket - Tim Holtz
other - Tissue paper, pom-pom trim, paper doily

How to make this card:
1. Apply a title rub-on.

2. Put washi tape and glue the paper doily to the patterned paper. Cut out the excess of the doily.

3. Tuck the tissue paper to make pleats.

4. Machine stitch the tissue paper along with the pom-pom trim.

5. Glue a ticket and a frame-shaped paper piece.

Here is my layout for Artists' Garden Place challenge #24.
The color for this challenge is "blue" and the word is "cool", so I made a layout with pictures in which my daughter enjoys water in a paddling pool.

I was happy to be able to join this challenge.

Crafting Ireland's free online class

Crafting Ireland, an online magazine that I'm involved as a DT member, is going to host a free online class on Ustream:

Crafting Ireland is hosting a free online class on the 21st July at 3pm BST. In the class we will create some mini scrapbook layouts. These layouts are perfect for card makers who want to get into scrapbooking or for scrapbookers who find they are running out of space for bigger layouts! We will also make a desktop flip display stand for the pages so you can show them off where ever you like!

Supply list for the online class
Mini layout pages:
*4 sheets of cardboard/chipboard at 13cmx13cm
*10 sheets 6×6 paper cut down to 13x13cm – keep the off cuts!
*This will make 4 double sided pages so you will have 8 pages in total, you can of course make more if you wish!
* Polaroid style photo mats: photos are 7.4 x 7.4 cm and the white card to matt them on is 9.6cm x 8.1cm.
*You will need 8 photos and 8 photo mats
*Adhesives, border punches, trim, score board, duct tape and tools as usual
*Binding rings or ribbon (Binding rings do work the best)
*Crop a dile/eyelet setter and eyelets (optional)
*Hole punch
For the stand:
*1 x Sheet of chipboard 30cm long and 15cm high
*2 x pieces of chipboard 15cm high and 6cm wide
*Duct tape
*Paper or paint to cover it
*Optional – embellishments. I use tissue tape.

A big thing that has kept me busy

Oops I forgot to tell you, my followers...

Do you remember that I wrote about my soon-to-be-released app last month?
It's now available for iPhone and Android.

Do you scrapbook all of the photos you took? If not, what do you do with your un-scrapbooked photos?

If you have no idea, I recommend you to try my app.
My app offers the way to create a digital album with no time and effort. Just import your pictures and your photo album will be made automatically.

Here is a page of my scrapbook album:

The name of the app is "million moments". Though the app is released, we are keeping on improving it.

For the latest info you can follow us on twitter, @millionmoments.

I hope you enjoy your million moments :)

my best vest ever

Hi there, this is my DT layout for Sketches with a Twist (and the twist for this month is using fabric on your layout):

cardstock - core'dinations
patterned paper - 7gypsies, Prima Marketing, BasicGrey, Pink Paislee, Sassafras Lass, Jillibean Soup
chipboard - Prima Marketing
sticker - Making Memories
other - twine, washi tape

My daughter is in her "best vest ever" - her grandma (my MIL) hand-knitted it.
She likes knitting and crocheting very much and sometimes she makes something for her grandchildren.

For this layout I used almost no embellies. I love using patterned paper and I always forget to think about embellies :P

Crafting Ireland Design Team

I'm excited to be a part of another wonderful DT - Crafting Ireland (Irish on-line magazine).

They have a DT announcement here:

For next issue I am to make something with washi tape (just because I'm from washi-country, lol).
I'm looking forward to working with those talented ladies.

May 1, 2012

Hi there, well, sadly I could make only one layout in April. I've been busy, now I work as a planner for a smartphone app and my app will be released this month - I'm going to make an announcement on this blog when it's released, so stay tuned :)

And here is my DT layout for Sketches with a Twist:

cardstock - core'dinations
patterned paper - Sassafras Lass, Prima marketing, Fancy Pants, BasicGrey, Pink Paislee, Making Memories
brad - BasicGrey, Sassafras Lass, Making Memories
chipboard - Pink Paislee
other - paper doily, washi tape, vellum, alphabet sticker

My son loves to play with bubbles. I think bubbles are one of the best tool to take nice pics of children.

Here is the sketch:

let him eat cake

Hi everyone, well I have no lies to tell you today :-P

Here is DT my layout for Sketches with a Twist:

cardstock - core'dinations
patterned paper - Webster's Pages, Cosmo Cricket, Studio Calico, Sassafras Lass, Jillibean Soup, Pink Paislee
chipboard - My Mind's Eye
sticker - Making Memories, Jenni Bowlin
game piece - Tim Holtz
other - paper bag, magic mesh, badge

My son and a cake for his birthday - a problem happened!
What do you think the problem was like? I wrote a journal about it (in Japanese).

The answer is:
He didn't like his cake!
I don't know why, but he won't eat his cake. So his dad made his face messy with cream, in order to take a "first-birthday-like photo".

By the way, 1 month after the day in these pics, he had a chance to eat some cake again, and he ate so much.

This month's twist is to use mesh, and here is the sketch:

Thank U for being my everything

Here is my DT layout for Sketchabilities #68:

cardstock - core'dinations
patterned paper - Jillibean Soup, Studio Calico, Cosmo Cricket, Webster's Pages
trim - Pink Paislee, Webster's Pages
brad - Jenni Bowlin

These are my favorite photos.
So I decided to make a layout with my daughter's favorite colors - pink and green.
And I love this title, "Thank U for being my everything". Actually she's my everything.

And this layout is based on this sketch:

This is the last layout for my DT term at Sketchabilities. I can't believe that! Time flies...

Mar 15, 2012

These days I've been busy at work - so many things to do, so many people to meet (but I had an exciting day today - I met the designer for My 365 app. I'm an Android user and am looking forward to My 365 for Android.), and what is worse my daughter caught a cold and I had to look after her.

But I didn't forget to make a layout for the sketch #67 for Sketchabilities - I love it, though it seemed too difficult for me at first:

Here is my layout for the sketch:

cardstock - core'dinations
patterned paper - BasicGrey, Prima Marketing, K & Co., Cosmo Cricket, Pink Paislee, Webster's Pages
sticker, flower - Prima Marketing
button - BasicGrey
other - washi tape, hemp twine, vintage lace, tulle

Now I can hardly believe that my daughter was such little! And it was only 3 years ago!
Anyway she was a baby, and it's just one of my million moments that I must remember.

毎日をしっかり記録したいものだ、とか言ってみる。(今日、My 365のデザイナーさんと会ったので若干感化されてます。)

Things are...

Here is my DT layout for Sketches with a Twist:

cardstock - core'dinations
patterned paper - Pink Paislee, Sassafras Lass, Cosmo Cricket, Prima Marketing
chipboard - Jenni Bowlin
clip - Tim Holtz

This time I tried to be a minimalist.
It was not easy - I placed and replaced paper pieces again and again.

I love this title, "Things are only impossible until they're not".
When I have a problem these words make me a bit relaxed.

And it goes great with these pics. A baby grows up way too fast.
Even though something seemed to be impossible for him yesterday, he can do it today.

Based on this sketch:

Feb 29, 2012

girly girl

Here is my DT layout for Sketchabilities:

cardstock - core'dinations
patterned paper - BasicGrey, 7gypsies, daisy d's, K & Co.
pearl, rhinestone  - Prima Marketing
sticker - Making Memories
brad, chipboard, trim, tab - BasicGrey
ticket - Tim Holtz
other - resin flower, masking tape, magic mesh, vellum

My daughter dressed up on my brother's wedding, and she looked so girly.
She seemed she was enjoying her dress, but she didn't like to have flowers on her head.

The sketch:

Feb 20, 2012

beauty - PMB #16

3 DT layouts are enough to keep me busy, but this month I made the 4th layout for Pages of My Book #16.
They have Rahel Menig as a guest designer this month - Rahel's creations are so inspiring and I'm addicted to her style. So I thought I must be in!

And here is my take:

cardstock - core'dinations
patterned paper - Prima Marketing, Pink Paislee, 7gypsies, My Mind's Eye, Webster's Pages
chipboard - Jenni Bowlin, Pink Paislee
sticker - Prima Marketing
glitter - Martha Stuart
twine - My Mind's Eye
other - paper doily, vellum, badge, tulle, resin flower

For the banner part, I curved a stamp by myself. See this post for a bit more about this stamp.

The title is "beauty is in the heart of the beholder" - whenever I see my daughter, this phrase comes up to my mind. She might not be beautiful for other people, but for me she's absolutely beautiful, especially when she shows me such beautiful (and sometimes funny) smile.

I love their inspiration board as always:

handcurved banner stamp

I hand-curved an eraser to make a stamp for my latest layout.

I traced a banner shape:

Then rubbed the traced shape to an eraser:

Then curved:

And done!

Feb 15, 2012

Here is my DT layout for Sketchabilities #65:

patterned paper - Sassafras Lass, Pink Paislee, 7gypsies, BasicGrey, Glitz, Prima Marketing
sticker - Jenni Bowlin
chipboard, brad - Sassafras Lass
tab, lace trim - BasicGrey
other - pom-pom trim, sewing pattern, dymo

My daughter's first haircut - I bought a book titled "haircut at home" and I cut off her hair.
I loved her new style, and so she loved.
Teachers at her nursery school asked me "did she go to a hair salon?" and I (proudly) answered "no, she had her hair cut by me".

I used a pie chart to show how I felt after haircut - kawaii (cute) / yatta (I did it) / niau (looks nice) / mijikai (short).

I think I did a great job, lol, and since then I sometimes cut her hair. Snip snip...

flower necklace

Just saying hello to my readers - I have no layout to show you here at this time.

Fabric flower necklace - I bought a kit and made it.

Will be back in 5 days, with my new layout for Sketchabilities :)

Feb 2, 2012

better together

Here is my DT layout for Sketches with a Twist:

cardstock - core'dinations
patterned paper - Pink Paislee, Prima Marketing, Sassafras Lass, BasicGrey, 7gypsies
chipboard, brad - Sassafras Lass
sticker - Prima Marketing, My Mind's Eye
flower - Petaloo
button - BasicGrey
trim - Pink Paislee
other - vintage lace, alphabet sticker

Here is the sketch:

The twist for February is using something green - this month's twist is by me.

The pics on this layout, especially ones on the right and center are my favorites. Needless to say I love seeing my children be happy together :)
