nengajo 2012

Nengajo (new year's greeting postcard) for 2012 - this year I made it 100% digital (you can see my hybrid nengajo for 2011 here).

Before I started creating the image above, I have never thought how happy it is to prepare (or, to say, to be able to prepare) the new year's greeting - in Japan, when someone in the family died, we don't send nengajo for the next year.
I don't know if you remember, but in March, a catastrophe had occurred in Japan, and many lives were lost.

Anyway, wishing you a merry Christmas and a happy new year :)

making a new blog header

Recently my taste has been changed. I liked girlie designs before, and I like them even now, but I'm addicted to something a bit cool and boyish.

So, I want my blog template changed!
And now I am making a new blog header.

Inspiration - our bathroom sink

I like soap! The one in the bottle is for my son, the yellow one is herbal soap for hands, and the turquoise one is for washing underwear.
And I have so many packages of soap in stock. I would love to try to make on my own someday.

Well, and the new header is this:

I'm planning on making background next week.

my first project in 2011

It's too late to say it, but "Happy New Year!"

The other day I submitted my "baby announcement" layout for the Scrapbook News and Review magazine, and today I received an e-mail saying they accepted my layout for the next issue.

My project will be published outside Japan for the first time.

And, my first ”project” in 2011 is something strange.

No it's not something published. what I made is my new "out for publication" banner! lol

envelopes!

Merry Christmas!

Well, what I received today was not a Christmas gift, but the envelopes that I ordered from a printing firm.

I once dreamed to be a graphic designer, and now I still like using Adobe Illustrator. An idea happened to me - how about designing my own envelope?

And these are the envelopes. These are not for letters, I'm thinking of using them to organize something like tickets or photos.

It would also be good if printed on vellum paper, I think.

nengajo 2011

I made an image for nengajo (postcard for Japanese new year's greeting).
First I embellished a paper bag (I used masking tape, lace paper, butterfly punchies etc.), then scanned, and added photos and some embellishments digitally.

Now I have to print this image, and then write something like "wishing you a happy 2011" or so.

2011 is the year of rabbits, can you find a rabbit on the image?

another digital layout

Credit: brushes - obsidian dawn

I should have made this layout last year - My dd in this photo is 5 or 6 months old. Now she still loves the book in the photo.

Working on some digital layouts

I am working on some digital layouts in order to make a photobook.

This one will be the cover.

Credits: paper - Sunflowers; alphabets - tangie baxter; calendar - Jennifer Pebbles

Anpanman is a Japanese popular animation character and my daughter is a huge fan of him since she saw him for the first time in her life, on a package of cookies for children.

When we visited Anpanman Museum she was soooo excited. A 17-months-old girl loudly shouting "ANPANMAN!!!" made everyone surprised.

Starbucks tumbler

My boss will quit her job to move to Minnesota in the US.
I and my colleagues decided to give her a tumbler as a farewell gift.

We bought Starbucks' "create your tumbler". I made this graphic and printed out, then cut it and inserted to the tumbler.

credits: paper, flowers, bike - NewlifeDreams; paper - gwenn; key - Sweet Digi Scraps; tag - Bohemian ART; lace, leaves, photo frame - Annie Manning; alphabets - akizo

MN stands for Minnesota and also for the name of our division.

Hope she'll like it.

personalized pacifier holders

I made this pacifier holder for my daughter when she was 6 months old, but she didn't like pacifiers so this one always holded her rattle - but I should call it her toy rather than her rattle holder.

materials: wood beads, acrylic beads, clip, nylon string

I made another one for a friend of mine who gave birth to her little boy.

The baby boy and my daughter - why is my dd's face so funny in this photo!?

paper - NewlifeDreams; swirl - lkane; die cuts - Sande Krieger

masking tape?

I love mt brand masking tape. I have some, and now can't scrapbook without them! They are acid free, by the way. (mt masking tape web site)

I bought them on my birthday last year, as a birthday present to myself.

dotted paper - ; brown paper, frames - Sev

I used some on this layout:

and I also used some on my book for the international circle journal.

To US residents: you can find/get them at www.happytape.bigcartel.com

.............wait, wait!
wwwwwwwwwwwwwwhat!? $22 for a set of 5??

I'm really happy to be in Japan - I can get them at a reasonable price. lol
